En noir : Partie ascendante du Limbic Midbrain Circuit - avec en 7 la "Limbic Midbrain Area" de Nauta [33] -1,2,5,6 Région du septum (fig. 7), de la région sous thalamique, de la région du noyau interpédonculaire et de la partie médiane du tegmentum pontique antérieur (fig. 6). de telles lésions suppriment en tout ou en partie, l'activité rapide corticale et l'activité rythmique à 5 c/s hippocampique au cours de la P.R.S.

En hachure oblique : 3,4 lésion interrompant le système réticulé activateur ascendant au niveau du tegmentum mésencéphalique. De telles lésions qui suppriment l'Arousal Cortical, peuvent laisser persister une activité rapide corticale pendant la P.R.S.

En grisé : F. R. Ponto Bulbaire inhibitrice dont la mise en Jeu est probablement responsable des différents phénomènes végétatifs et de l'inhibition du tonus musculaire .
